– 27 DRESSES –
#27 Dresses is a project that sees S*UCE Concept Store dress 27 beautiful Dumye dolls in a host of regional and international designers
For this style post, I am featuring something very special –
In collaboration with the Hollywood movie 27 Dresses, START World, Dumye and S*AUCE, come together in this exclusive one day auction to work on a positive cause for children with special needs. Held at the prestigious The Annex by Burj Khalifa, the event couldn’t have been hosted at a more suited place.
Right after being done with the GLE Dubai 2016, I headed to the event to assist START with leading the invited guests to the correct location. I witnessed a lot of lovely ladies dressed in colorful, glamorous and structured skirts and dresses – looking like dolls themselves!
I was genuinely excited (and restless) by the time I had managed to catch up with the event. I could finally chat to Mahbouba and nibble on some delicious canapes while browsing through the dolls. I had decided that my favorite one was Farida by Manoush. I also had my eyes on Noor the Nomad by House of Nomad, as well as other dolls belonging to international and regional designers such as All Things Mochi!
The clever idea behind the theme of the auction (apart from the original concept of Dumye) is how every doll has her own individual personality – also being involved in some sort of activity or hobby. Each is shown lounging around one of Dubai’s hot spots and iconic locations such as Dubai Design District or the Old Souq. With every doll, there is a supporting poster, illustrating the dolls in their natural elements.
Buying Dumye dolls leads to a great cause – that is, with every purchase, a doll is being gifted to an orphaned/ vulnerable child. In this special occasion, all proceeds go to START World! The auction went well and several dolls were destined to be adopted and sent to a new destination after tonight’s memorable and unique experience.
On another note: the remaining Dumye dolls can still be found in S*UCE outlets, so keep an eye out for them; they’re looking for a loving home:
