Journal entry for October 2016

A few days ago, I received an email from my ‘past self’ through futureme.org

The thought of sending yourself emails to the future sounds a little silly but it’s one way of knowing where you’ve reached in life. In my email, I had a bunch of things that were a clear indicator of why I wasn’t happy – most of which involved trying to find my purpose in life.

While I’m still in the process of tackling some problems like anxiety and depression, I managed to channel my energy into something I’m very passionate about like volunteering. I was recently accepted as a member in one of the biggest international NG – NFP organizations for youth empowerment and leadership: AIESEC. I decided that after graduating from my MSc, I wanted to give more time to social causes as well as traveling before getting too caught up in other life matters.

Currently:

  • I’m preparing some post cards to send out to friends; it has always been something that I’ve been wanting to do.
  • I’m getting ready for a very busy October. I usually hibernate during summer just because of how hot it gets in the UAE. One of the things I’m looking forward to is Fashion Forward Dubai.
  • As difficult as it can be, I decided to stop buying clothes, use the pieces that I already have and focus on mixing and matching them. I’ve been reading on the harmful effects of textiles and how the fashion industry is destroying the planet.
  • My blogging direction is currently undergoing some changes.
