– DESIRE –
“I would rather be able to appreciate things I can not have
than to have things I am not able to appreciate” – Elbert Hubbard
I couldn’t find anything suitable to describe Lust with, so I altered the word a little to be more fitting. Desire is human nature, embedded deep within us and is part of what makes us who we are. How much desire a person has can sometimes shape them into new beings, may it be ambition or just lust.
In this post, I wanted to share some of my personal desires – materialistic and abstract things that many would wish to have as well. Living in a city that’s constantly flourishing and witnessing that change, it’s hard not to want to be part of the experience. I share some photos of the biggest indoor aquarium yet, holder of a Guinness world record and home to more than 33,000 aquatic animals. I get a sense of freedom looking at fish swimming in water and a feeling of gratitude being able to afford seeing such sights (even though I feel bad for these poor creatures).
Money has taken over our lives and molded our desires into oftentimes unnecessary ones. Although I aim to live a comfortable life, I know that my happiness doesn’t rely on money. I plan on keeping it this way and to begin appreciating the things I already have rather than desiring what I don’t have yet.
We spent the rest of the evening riding the newly constructed Trolley in the Boulevard and finishing it off in Al Hamidieh Restaurant. Living in a beautiful and peaceful city counts for the biggest blessing indeed.
Fun fact: Their current newest addition at the aquarium is the octopus. We got a chance to interact with her by allowing her to sense our fingertips.
