– FFWD SEASON 8 –
your unofficial guide to Fashion Forward Dubai – Season 8!
Endorsed by the Dubai Design and Fashion Council, FFWD prepares to host the most diverse portfolio of brands to date at the bespoke location hai d3 in Dubai Design District (d3). The latest instalment of the twice-annual event will show a total of 31 designers, with 5 labels making their FFWD debut this season
Dubai’s own Fashion Forward is becoming increasingly popular over the seasons and there’s no reason to miss out on the wonderful things that the event holds. With the aid of the FFWD Press Kit, I’ve prepared a list of things to see and do at the venue:
Catwalks and Presentations
The sole purpose of attending just about any fashion event. Every Season of FFWD is packed with catwalks and presentations to die for and you would want to put on your comfy shoes/heels to make sure you don’t miss out of any of the brilliant shows. This year, we get revisited by some iconic regional and international designers including House of Nomad, Amato by Furne One, STARCH Foundation, Ezra and Hussein Bazaza.
Nothing is complete without having a few social events here and there. If you are able to get invitations to this year’s Petite Promesse Launch or Zayan Ghandour x Cartoon Network’s Powerpuff Girls x Saucette presentation, consider yourself to be very lucky! Don’t forget to put yourself out there and mingle with people who share your interests, and you might be able to attend a lot more social events.
FFWD’s Showcase is the place to be if you like the idea of supporting independent designers and artists. The Spring/Summer ’17 Showcase displays a carefully selected list of regional jewellery/ designers including Alessa Jewelry, Amal Haliq, Bana Sunglasses, Belquis Bags, Inaaya, Madiso, Myriam SOS, Narinee, Natalie Trad, NS by Noof, Rula Galayini, Sahag, Vanina and Vinita Michael.
d3 Fashion Talks
Similar to the Showcase, FFWD’s d3 Fashion Talks includes a series of panel discussions and conversations throughout the duration of the event. For this Season, the theme focuses on going ‘back to basics’ for the purpose of giving designers and fashion lovers professional advice from experts in the field. Subjects revolve around sustainability, maintaining a business in the fashion world and upcoming trends to look out for.
