It’s almost summertime around most parts of the world and schools are out. What better time to pack up your bags and travel to your hometown or dream place? You need to be all set for a trip well deserved!

For the duration which you will be spending abroad, it’s important to prepare for several things:

The weather
check out the forecast from different sources and know what type of clothing you will need
The culture
be aware of nature of the place that you will be visiting, keep an eye out for anything that could be offensive to the culture, ie: clothes
The duration of the trip
a good indication of what you should bring along with you, ie: entertainment

General things you should pack:

Clothing essentials

(apart from your clothes):

A hoodie/ raincoat
A “dressy” outfit
Formal shoes
Comfortable shoes
Neutral outfit with basic pieces (top, bottoms, a scarf/ shawl)
A towel
A small bag for dirty laundry/ other small garments

Hygiene kit

Shampoo/ conditioner
Comb/ brush
Deodorant spray/ stick
Toothbrush, toothpaste and flossing thread
Mintdrops/ spray
Makeup and makeup remover
Note: all toiletries should not exceed the limit (100ml or 75ml)

Emergency kit

Needle, thread and buttons (mini sewing kit)
Disinfectant swabs
Anti inflammatory cream
Antihistamine pills
Motion-sickness pills
Off counter painkillers (Panadol Night is a good choice for longer flights)
A light snack such as a granola bar or chocolate bar
Sanitary pads

Other essentials

Camera and cable/ charger
Phone and cable/ charger
Laptop/ tablet and cable/ charger
Power bank
Notebook/ notepad and pens
A small flashlight (yes!)
A small compartment/ bag: for keeping your cables and chargers in one place
A small pouch: for keeping your ID and extra money in your jacket/ breast pocket
