“Visual references derived from the natural world are presented in impressionistic form with a rich and vibrant palette. The body of work conveys subtle messages of sustainability, well being, destruction and hope. In this new collection of work Kathryn Wilson experiments with oil, acrylic and spray painting techniques to create a visual celebration of light and colour in motion. Circular canvases with curved edges serve as a portal through which a stimulating experience is created for the viewer”

I’ve known Dubai based Artist Kathryn Wilson for a while now and was so excited to find out about her solo exhibition in one of my favorite galleries: FN DESIGNS. I met Kathryn during an art exhibition we both took part in (MEGA 2012, Dubai Mall) and got to know more about what she does during a meetup I organized post-event.

Kathryn reflects her beautiful art perfectly and has created a signature style. Her theme circulated around the country, making a name for her in the United Arab Emirates. She’s mainly inspired by natural elements such as waves and focuses on color, light and motion. Her art pieces are mostly comprised of shades of blue with bright accents, which give them an additional touch. Although Kathryn mainly uses Acrylic and oil colors for her paintings, she is also experienced with other media like photography.

Seeing more of her work in SATURATE made me feel both happy and proud of her accomplishments. Her show features a wide selection of her signature paintings in different sizes and forms. The exhibition runs from 18 January – 14 March and I absolutely recommend a visit there. Even if you are not one for art, Kathryn’s work will have you changing your mind.

On a side note: There are other ongoing exhibitions in the district and there’s plenty to see!
